A Lifetime of Adaptation
The Shui Xian varietal adapts to nearly any terroir when the climate allows. From the acidic red and yellow-red soils of southern Fujian to the rock-derived mineral soils of Wuyi in the north where it has evolved into one of the most celebrated Wuyi oolong teas.
Aromas
The dry leaves open with inviting toasty aromas, layered with caramel and soft woody notes. Once infused, they fully express the soul of Wuyi Shui Xian—rich minerality, fresh bamboo leaf scents, and an elegant transition from gentle wood to refined orchid florals.
Flavor
On the palate, the tea is thick, round, and almost velvety. A lovely touch of salted caramel and toasted notes emerges in the first infusion. From the second infusion onward, the tea’s character reveals itself, with a beautiful woody sensation alongside a prunny note at mid-palate that carries into white floral notes reminiscent of orchid. Finally, the terroir makes itself known through a mineral quality that brings a refreshing clarity to the finish. Each infusion is distinct, unfolding differently from the last. Gradually, the roast fades away, giving space to the flower—elegant and airy.
