Over sixty tea cultivars were once recorded in Anxi. Today, only a few remain in memory.
This is not a revival. It is simply a slowing of forgetting.
This tea is a quiet record — a gathering of native and long-standing Anxi oolongs, returned under their own names, in their true forms, from their true origins. These teas were never gone — only misnamed, overlooked, or quietly waiting.
Shui Xian · Native Strength, Southern Grace
Shui Xian originated in northern Fujian. During the Daoguang era, it journeyed south, first arriving in Yongchun. The plant — and its northern processing methods — took root. From there, it spread gently through Anxi’s villages. Never dominant, never lost.
A decade ago, we transplanted old Shui Xian bushes from village courtyards into our Longjuan tea garden. After years of quiet growth, the first batch was crafted in autumn 2024 — using traditional heavy 摇青 (fermentation) and triple low-fire roasting.
But on Anxi soil, the tea speaks differently: soft orchid, the clarity of bamboo leaf, a trace of aged wood. Not showy — grounded.
A sip brings clarity and poise. Always that unmistakable presence: bright, open, quietly powerful.
