This Rou Gui is on our own Longjuan slopes, made in a more Min Bei-style oolong approach. The dry leaves smell of roast, 糯米纸 sticky rice candy wrappers, a whisper of powdery warmth, soft cinnamon sweetness, and faint peachy tartness.
Hot, the lid releases notes of milk, ripe peach, and dry zongye.
Once cool, the scent shifts—boiled zongye, cinnamon, gardenia, moss, and just a trace of thick rice broth.
The hot liquor is full-bodied, yet supple. Clear in its astringency, shaped with spice.
Cooled, the mouthfeel grows denser. There’s a sweet crunch of white peach, grounded by a more forceful cinnamon. Bamboo leaf, sun-dried wild herbs, even a trace of licorice root and wood sap.
The after taste feels sweet and long-lingering.
