My Notes
The Gui Hua Hong Cha from Anhui province presents a sophisticated and well-balanced tea experience. Upon tasting, the palate is met with a crisp and precise burst of spicy red tea, which holds firm through the mid-palate. This initial boldness gradually gives way to delicate osmanthus notes, subtly integrated. Unlike the more robust and fragrant osmanthus of Zhejiang, Anhui's version is more subdued, offering a quieter, refined complexity.
As the tea steeps, its robust opening mellows into a harmonious blend of woody, floral, and sweet notes. A faint hint of candy-like sweetness emerges, lingering elegantly on the palate and leaving a lasting impression. The wet leaves reveal an enchanting floral aroma interwoven with the warm, earthy fragrance of Jiang Zhen Xiang incense—a comforting combination of ginger, aromatic woods, and herbs, creating a serene and contemplative sensory experience.
