My Notes

3gr of tea leaves in a 60ml gaiwan.

The dry leaves release an elegant bouquet of rose petals and Milan flower (Aglaia odorata), whose delicate fragrance evokes orange blossom, ripe orchard fruits, honey and a touch of jasmine. Together, these notes create a remarkably layered and inviting aroma.

Beneath the florals lies a gentle thread of umeboshi-like fruit, bringing a subtle sweet-sour character and a wisp of smoke that adds intrigue without disturbing the tea's balance. Rather than standing apart, the smoky note weaves seamlessly into the fruit profile, enhancing its depth and complexity.

Although hints of cocoa emerge from the warm leaves, it is the refined rose character that ultimately takes centre stage. The liquor is immediately coating, with a silky texture that settles across the palate from the first infusion. Long and expressive, the finish carries floral, honeyed and lightly fruity notes that continue to unfold with each successive steeping, revealing ever greater length and resonance.
