2025 Green Tea Line-Up Welcomes Di shui xiang — A Hidden Gem from Shexian, Huangshan, one of the best-value green in the region.
The dry leaves of Di shui xiang give off a clean, focused aroma — sweet roasted chestnuts with a touch of sun-dried hay. Not a trace of green sharpness.
Once brewed, the fragrance deepens. There’s the rich warmth of dried sweet potatoes, a gentle lift of dry ginger, and a hint of clean smokiness. A subtle, savory chicken-fat aroma rises — a tea with a surprising sense of “meaty” roundness.
The liquor is a pale greenish hue, crystal-clear and pure. On the palate, it’s brisk and refreshing, with a moderate body and pleasant smoothness.
There’s a strong herbal note within the broth — the kind that comes from the stems of fresh plants. It evokes bamboo, or perhaps the green stems of ginger lily — clean, cooling, and quietly invigorating.
The texture is thick and almost inky, standing out even among Anhui teas for its density. Yet it flows easily.
After swallowing, a clear and lasting sweetness returns. The flavor lingers on, leaving behind a long and steady echo.
