Special Offer for Yixing Teapot Collectors! Jing Tea Shop is very happy to present this Yi Tiao Long (One Dragon) from the very famous Yixing Tea Factory #1. We acquired these sets from a Yixing teapot collectors here in Guang Zhou who has been on the “circuit” for almost half a century. We bought 4 sets from him and this is the second set to be sold. We are off course keeping one for us and another one for exposition.
This dragon includes 12 Shui Ping Hu and was produced during the mid 70’s. Each teapot is marked inside the lid with its number representing the number of cups, #1 beeing 1 cups, #4 beeing 4 cups and so forth.
What makes this set a collector piece besides the fact that complete aged dragon set are very rare is that it was made using a special technique called “Tian Jiang”. Tian Jiang is a technique that consists of dipping the teapot before firing in a liquid clay solution. This technique is also known in English as “inside purple, outside red”. The teapots were made using a typical Yixing Teapot Factory Pin Zi Ni clay and were then dipped into a high grade Hong Ni bath. The result is simply beautiful. The teapot exhibits a beautiful red on the outside and the famous Yixing dark purple from the Zi Ni inside. What the body of the teapot burnishing as you pour boiling water in it.
This dragon will make will look outstanding in display just by itself but the great plus is that each teapots can actually be used to brew tea. This set has everything a Yixing teapot collectors can hope for. It is quite old, it is in perfect condition, it is complete, it is beautiful, and it makes good tea!
