One of the first thing red tea lovers may wonder about when reading the description of this famous red tea is the date, spring 2005. Real lapsang souchong is one of the very few red teas that can be aged to enhance the tea liquor and taste. As we only sell traditionally processed lapsang souchong, we do not carry the current year harvest. Just like in the old time we believe that the sweet fragrance of dry fruit is a better experience than the smokiness.
The Lapsang Souchong, known as Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong tea in China, is a special red tea from the Wuyi mountain. Our Lapsang Souchong is produced in the original place where this red tea was created, Tong Mu Guang which is located in Xing Cun (Star Village). After the leaves have been oxidized, the drying of the leaves is speed up by firing using local pine wood. That process is what gives this tea a distinctively rich and malty flavor. This fine Chinese red tea has a very thick, strong liquor, which can be served plain or with milk and sugar. - ORDER A SAMPLE -
