Because of the high price, I waited a while to try this one. This is a really tasty tea--nice balance between roasting character and initial acidity, lingering fruity aftertaste, and a slight floral undertone. Unfortunately, I can't help but be a bit disappointed--the leaf appearance is nothing special, with quite a number of broken leaves and few large examples (maybe I just got the bottom of the bag?). I'm not sure if it's because of this, but the tea's durability is somewhat wimpy--after 4 or 5 infusions you really have to work to get the flavor to avoid insipidity. All of this could be overlooked to a certain extent if the price were lower...I may or may not take the plunge again when my store runs out, but I'll be more likely to try the high-end Bai Ji Guan and Tie Luo Han before returning to this one. |
